Tax

Always compare tax forms from one year to the next. When the value entered on any line is significantly different, be sure you can explain it. I suppose some people have their finances and tax situation change frequently, but that hasn't been the case for me. This year, I missed checking one box in TurboTax, and it would have cost me about $3000. Comparing the printed forms for 2007 and 2008, I noticed a huge difference on one line and went back to review. Entering the missed check mark was a big deal. TurboTax, for all its capabilities, didn't question my missed check mark. That was still up to me.
